Crime and Intelligence Analyst

Job Purpose

To deliver reliable, actionable intelligence concerning crime and security threats to the client in order to identify criminal behaviour impacting on loss and safety and contribute to creating a safe and secure environment for store staff and customers.

Scope of the Role

Provide the highest standards of intelligence collation, evaluation, and analysis to influence key decision makers internally and within our law enforcement partners.

Key Accountabilities

  • Proactively merge intelligence from disparate qualitative and quantitative sources and draw inferences and conclusions based on client needs
  • Analyse crime trends and present actionable intelligence to provide advice or more effectively manage security resources
  • Identify POI's and OCG's that propose a threat to the client, and provide end to end case management with the objective of securing criminal convictions and custodial sentences
  • Create intelligence products to identify risk and vulnerabilities to our client's retail operations and wider estate
  • Make appropriate recommendations for the deployment of security resources
  • Present intelligence and evidence to the client leadership and law enforcement partners
  • Promote intelligence sharing with internal and external stakeholders including law enforcement partners
  • Bring to the fore innovations in crime threat intelligence to enhance the capability and reputation of the organisation as an industry leader
  • Actively engage with internal and external customers to fully understand operational requirements and promote effective crime prevention strategies
  • Ensure compliance with GDPR and Company and Client quality standards
  • Where appropriate, implement actions to protect the business and minimise non-compliance at all times
  • Work and communicate with other support functions as appropriate to ensure workflow is effective and delivers the right output in the right timescales
  • Provide training and oral briefings to client and leadership as required
  • Other time critical tasks as directed by the client and management
  • Complete ad-hoc projects as designated by management or client on time and to a high standard of quality
  • Form and develop relationships with Police, law enforcement agencies and other partners to identify and advance the potential of prosecution and other enforcement action.

Key Skills and Experience

  • Strong big-data analytical ability – an expert user of Microsoft Office products, in particular Excel, Power BI, and use of crime intelligence databases
  • Experience in writing strategic and tactical reports
  • Strong understanding of organised acquisitive crime or loss prevention within retail and distribution
  • An excellent communicator with experience in delivering oral and written presentations to senior leadership
  • Customer service focussed
  • Ability to build and maintain relationships with a strong teamwork ethic
  • Good educational background and a solid command of written and spoken English
  • Experience of working within a demanding fast-paced environment
  • Effective communication and customer service skills
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Outlook, Word, and Excel
  • Ability to work under pressure and make quick decisions
  • Reliable, flexible, and discreet
  • Experience of working in a controlled environment
  • Solid organisational skills with the ability to coordinate multiple priorities and achieve tight deadlines
  • A positive attitude and ability to deal with pressure professionally

Desirable Skills and Experience

  • Ability to assemble high quality case files to support criminal convictions and a great understanding of court/legal process
  • Previous Crime and Intelligence experience
  • Experience of producing intelligence/evidence packages
  • Degree educated or equivalent ability
  • Excellent open-source intelligence research ability
  • Familiar with the UK National Intelligence Model
  • Membership of a professional body
  • Security cleared or prepared to undertake clearance
  • Ability to work remotely as and when required
