Bid Writer
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Bid Writer to join their Business Development team in Newcastle. This permanent, full-time role offers hybrid working.
The Vacancy
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Bid Writer to join our growing Business Development team. You'll play a key role in securing new business for the firm by delivering high-quality, compelling and fully compliant tender and proposal submissions across both public and private sector opportunities. Your role will be critical to improving our bid quality, consistency and win rates, whilst supporting the firm’s strategic growth.
Working closely with our Tender Manager, you'll have the opportunity to manage the full bid lifecycle; from interpreting tender requirements and shaping win themes, through to drafting, coordination and submission. You'll use your creative flair to translate complex legal and technical information into clear, persuasive and client-focused responses that align precisely with evaluation criteria and our client priorities.
What will I be doing
- Managing the full bid lifecycle from opportunity identification through to submission, ensuring that all deadlines and governance requirements are met.
- Interpreting tender documentation to extract key requirements, evaluation criteria and submission instructions.
- Developing clear win themes and response structures aligned to client priorities and bid strategy.
- Drafting high-quality, tailored responses across ITTs, PQQs, RFQs, frameworks and panel submissions.
- Ensuring all submissions are fully compliant with tender requirements, including structure, formatting and protocols.
- Translating complex legal and technical information into clear, engaging, client-focused content.
- Collaborating with Partners, legal specialists, our Business Development Managers and business services to coordinate inputs and shape compelling responses.
- Conducting thorough quality assurance, using feedback and insights to drive continuous improvement in bid content and processes.
You'll have
- Demonstrable experience in bid writing, copy writing, proposals or tenders, ideally within a legal or professional services environment.
- Exceptional written communication skills, with the ability to translate complex technical content into clear, persuasive narrative.
- Proven ability to manage multiple bids and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong organisational and project management skills.
- High attention to detail with a focus on accuracy, quality and compliance.
- Confidence working with senior stakeholders, with the ability to challenge and refine content constructively.
- An APMP certification (or be willing be work towards a certification).
