Overview

An excellent opportunity for an experienced nurse looking to step into a leadership role, supporting the Home Manager in delivering outstanding clinical care within a service that provides nursing, residential, dementia, and specialist care. You'll play a key role in ensuring that care standards go beyond compliance, focusing on delivering truly person-centred care while supporting, mentoring, and developing a high-performing clinical team.

About the Role

  • Support the day-to-day clinical and operational management of the home
  • Take responsibility for the service in the absence of the Home Manager
  • Provide expert clinical guidance and nursing leadership to the team
  • Ensure all care delivered exceeds regulatory and professional standards
  • Promote a culture of kindness, empathy, and resident-focused care

This position is predominantly Monday–Friday across a 40-hour working week, offering a strong work-life balance, with participation in a shared on-call rota to support the service when required.

Role Responsibilities

  • Provide clinical leadership across the service
  • Oversee care planning, ensuring person-centred and outcome-focused delivery
  • Lead on clinical governance, audits, and compliance processes
  • Ensure medication management is safe and effective
  • Monitor resident wellbeing and respond proactively to clinical changes
  • Support and mentor nursing and care staff
  • Drive best practice in safeguarding, MCA/DoLS, and infection control
  • Ensure the home remains compliant and inspection-ready
  • Work collaboratively with families and external professionals

Requirements

  • Registered Nurse (RGN/RMN) with a valid NMC PIN
  • Must not require sponsorship (full right to work in the UK)
  • Minimum 2 years’ experience within an elderly nursing home setting
  • Proven experience in a leadership role such as Deputy Manager, Clinical Lead, or Unit Manager
  • Strong understanding of CQC standards, clinical governance, and compliance
  • Experience leading teams, audits, and care planning processes
  • Confident in supporting and developing clinical staff
  • Excellent communication and organisational skills
