Speech & Language Therapist – Specialist School (Term-Time Only)

Location: Birmingham
Salary: £38,500 - £46,500 per annum DOE
Type: Full-time, Permanent

About the Role

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] are working in partnership with a specialist school for children and young people with Autism Spectrum Condition and additional needs to recruit a Speech & Language Therapist. This is a newly created role, offering a unique opportunity to play a key part in shaping and developing a high-quality SALT provision within the school.

You will join a collaborative, multidisciplinary team within a specialist ASC education setting, supporting children and young people with ASC and SEMH needs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Delivering a mix of 1:1 and small group interventions
  • Supporting EHCP processes, including annual reviews and report writing
  • Completing baseline assessments for new and transitioning students
  • Delivering staff training and providing classroom-based support
  • Upskilling support staff to carry out interventions
  • Contributing to whole-school communication strategies
  • Working collaboratively within weekly MDT meetings
  • Supporting the ongoing development of the SaLT provision as the school grows

  • Multidisciplinary team including Speech & Language Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and pastoral staff
  • Regular MDT meetings for collaboration and shared planning

Requirements

  • HCPC registered Speech & Language Therapist
  • Experience working with children and young people with ASC and SEMH
  • Background in school-based or blended settings (e.g. education/NHS/private)
  • Confident in independent report writing, including EHCPs

  • 2nd stage: Formal interview and task at the school
