About the Role
We are currently recruiting for an experienced Repairs Manager to join a well-established contractor operating within the social housing sector across Essex. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated professional with a strong background in reactive maintenance and team leadership to step into a key operational role.
You will be responsible for overseeing day-to-day plumbing operations, ensuring high-quality service delivery, and managing a team of engineers working across occupied properties. The role requires a strong understanding of SOR (Schedule of Rates) codes and the ability to drive performance in a fast-paced, reactive environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage and support a team of plumbers and supervisors delivering reactive maintenance works
- Oversee daily operations to ensure jobs are completed efficiently, on time, and to required standards
- Monitor performance against KPIs, SLAs, and client expectations
- Ensure accurate use and application of SOR codes for all works carried out
- Liaise with clients, tenants, and internal teams to resolve issues and maintain high satisfaction levels
- Conduct regular audits, toolbox talks, and performance reviews
- Manage resource allocation, scheduling, and workflow optimisation
- Ensure compliance with health & safety regulations and company procedures
Key Requirements
- Proven experience in a Plumbing Manager or Supervisory role within social housing
- Strong background in reactive maintenance environments
- Essential experience working with SOR codes
- Technical background in plumbing (NVQ Level 2/3 or equivalent preferred)
- Experience managing operatives and driving team performance
- Excellent organisational and problem-solving skills
- Strong communication skills, both written and verbal
- Full UK driving licence
