Delivery Manager- AI & Future of Work Unit

This is a fixed-term loan role (24 months) at Grade 7, with hybrid working in London or other UK locations. Salary range: £54,415 - £64,995 plus a Civil Service Pension contribution of 28.97%.

The AI & Future of Work Unit, established in January 2026, researches AI's economic and labour market impacts and advises the government on responses.

Job Summary

Lead end-to-end internal delivery management for the unit, making strategy operational through delivery planning, tooling, internal governance, and risk management. Work closely with the Strategy, Governance and International lead to align internal delivery with external governance forums.

Core Responsibilities

  • Build and run the internal delivery system (~40%): Design integrated delivery plans across research, policy analysis, and policy coordination workstreams.
  • Lead internal meeting cadence and operational governance (~20%): Establish standups, delivery reviews, sprint planning, and product sign-off sessions.
  • Support cross-government delivery coordination (~15%): Track contributions from DWP, HMT, DBT, DfE, and MHCLG against the delivery plan.
  • Implement modern delivery tooling (~15%): Configure tools like Linear for both code-based and document-based workflows.
  • Unblock and enable (~10%): Identify and resolve delivery risks before escalation.

Person Specification

Essential Criteria

  • Proven delivery management experience in complex, multi-disciplinary settings.
  • Exceptional proactivity and ownership.
  • Strong relationship-building and communication skills.
  • Experience running internal governance and operational rhythms.
  • Comfort with modern tools (Linear, Jira, Trello, etc.) and technical environments.

Preferred Criteria

  • Experience in government delivery, DDaT, or agile delivery.
  • Familiarity with analytical or research delivery.
  • Understanding of AI, labour markets, or economic policy.
  • Experience coordinating across multiple government departments.
  • Background in fast-moving environments (start-up, consultancy, research institute).
