Senior Financial Accountant
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Limited is a UK-licensed bank operating across three core business segments: Retail Banking, SME Lending, and Banking Services (BaaS). The bank is a wholly owned subsidiary of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], a listed financial services provider headquartered in Estonia. [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] operates under a full UK banking licence granted in May 2023. This role is based in London and offers hybrid working.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the Financial Controller’s key partner across financial controllership, supporting finance operations, technical accounting, reporting and tax.
- Take responsibility for executing the majority of month-end and year-end close activities, ensuring outputs are accurate, complete and delivered on time in line with IFRS and regulatory requirements.
- Ensure the integrity of the general ledger and chart of accounts, with direct responsibility for balance sheet reconciliations.
- Support the preparation of statutory financial statements and disclosures.
- Execute and maintain financial reporting models (IFRS 2, IFRS 9, IFRS 16).
- Support the external audit process and assist with internal audit activities.
- Execute Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable and cash settlements.
- Partner with external advisors on tax compliance (corporation tax, VAT, R&D tax credits, PAYE Settlement Agreements).
- Design, implement and continuously enhance internal controls.
- Proactively identify and deliver process improvements and automation opportunities.
- Collaborate with Treasury, Risk, Operations, Product and Technology teams.
- Coach and support junior members of the finance team.
Requirements
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, ICAS, CPA or CIMA), or in final stages.
- 2–5 years’ post-qualification experience within banking, financial services or regulated environment.
- Strong IFRS knowledge and practical financial reporting experience.
- Hands-on experience with month-end close, balance sheet reconciliations and financial reporting.
- Exposure to statutory accounts preparation and external audits.
- Understanding of UK tax fundamentals (corporation tax, VAT).
- Experience with advanced accounting ledgers (Microsoft Dynamics / Business Central / Navision preferred).
- Strong Excel capability and high data literacy.
- Comfortable using AI tools like ChatGPT or similar platforms.
- Fluent in spoken and written English.
