Salary: Up to £73,000 + 17.5% annual bonus + £5.5k Car Allowance + Benefits

About the role
We currently have an exciting opportunity for a Development Underwriter to work with our General Insurance Sales Force and Service Centre to help drive the identification and acquisition of new business, gross written premium across mid-market commercial including property and liability business. We believe that commercial business presents our biggest growth opportunity over the longer term and this is an opportunity to be an integral part of that growth.
Working in partnership with our tied Agency Network and Sales teams in the South East, you’ll support the development of new business pipelines, attend client visits as required, gain increased exposure and develop your experience and understanding of various risks, whilst underwriting your own personal caseload.
You’ll be a key point of technical excellence to the Agency Network and Sales Force, providing clear direction on [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Underwriting strategy, Risk Appetite and the technical knowledge and skills to deliver objectives, KPI’s and first-class customer service.
Using your market knowledge and expertise, you’ll apply a ‘whole account’ underwriting philosophy, working in collaboration with cross-divisional teams and supporting with the identification of new mid-market opportunities.
The role is homebased and it is expected that the successful candidate will be on the road on average 2-3 days per week, covering the South East.
About you
- Property & Liability Commercial underwriting experience within the mid-market space
- Experience of successfully building and managing relationships
- Confident communicator with experience of leading and influencing discussions and decisions with integrity
- Development Underwriting experience/Proven business development experience (desirable)
- Dip CII or equivalent qualification (desirable)
