The BNSSG Integrated Care Board (ICB) is funding an ambitious programme to tackle deep‑rooted perinatal mental health inequalities across the region — and we’re looking for someone passionate, creative and community‑focused to help lead this work. As a Specialist Perinatal Mental Health Training Practitioner, you will design and deliver perinatal‑informed, culturally competent and community‑led training for VCSE organisations supporting communities who too often face barriers to care. Main duties of the job
- Lead the design and development of bespoke perinatal mental health training for VCSE organisations.
- Ensure training is culturally competent, trauma‑informed, accessible, and co‑produced with under‑represented communities.
- Deliver high‑quality specialist training to VCSE partners across BNSSG.
- Engage meaningfully with priority communities to shape training content.
- Work within [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] governance structures and participate in Black Maternity Matters training.
- Evaluate impact, report progress, and adapt training in response to feedback.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Creating a learning environment: Oversee development of learning opportunities for VCSE organisations. Co-deliver training on integrated team working. Contribute to guidance materials and teaching aids. Participate in audits and maintain clinical expertise.
Education delivery: Develop additional ways of delivering education (e-learning, simulation, workbooks). Encourage best practice sharing. Keep accurate records. Manage training budget and expenses for lived experience representation.
Quality Assurance: Ensure effective learning environments. Complete evaluations and produce analysis for improvements. Challenge practice to ensure high standards.
Stakeholders: Enhance working relationships across the Trust and wider system.
Leadership and Service Development: Promote evidence-based practice. Act as a change agent. Supervise team members and ensure appraisals.
Research: Lead audit evaluation and research as appropriate.
Person specification
Education and Qualification: Essential: NMC, SWE or HCPC Registration or equivalent; evidence of teaching/assessing course. Desirable: Postgraduate masters/doctorate; leadership training.
Experience and Knowledge: Essential: Substantial post qualification experience in perinatal mental health; training design experience; insight into barriers to accessing perinatal mental health services. Desirable: Knowledge of service change/QI; board-level presentation experience; partnership working.
Skill/Abilities: Essential: Excellent communication; ability to work autonomously and as part of a team. Desirable: Reviewing complex information and presenting in reports.
