FULL DESCRIPTION

Senior Site Reliability Engineer

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is looking for a Senior Site Reliability Engineer to support the platform serving Wikipedia. This remote role is part of a globally distributed SRE team. The position involves operational tasks, automation, incident response, and collaboration.

Responsibilities

  • Performing day-to-day operational/DevOps tasks on [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]'s public-facing infrastructure (deployment, maintenance, configuration, troubleshooting)
  • Implementing and utilizing configuration management and deployment tools (Puppet, Kubernetes)
  • Leading continuous improvement by automating installation, configuration, and maintenance
  • Working closely with product teams to design scalable services
  • Participating in a 24/7 on-call rotation and incident response
  • Collaborating with a global, cross-functional team
  • Mentoring peers in technical and operational areas
  • Traveling 1-2 times a year for in-person events

Skills and Experience

  • 6+ years in SRE/Operations/DevOps
  • Experience with shell scripting and Python, Go, Bash, Ruby
  • Configuration management with Puppet, Ansible
  • Distributed caching systems
  • Protocol-level understanding of TCP/IP, HTTP, TLS, DNS
  • Package management on Debian Linux
  • Strong Linux troubleshooting skills
  • Automation of tasks and processes
  • Strong English skills and ability to work independently
  • Experience leading incident response and post-incident reviews
