Assistant Buyer

Salary: £30000 per annum

Location: Chesterfield, Derbyshire

Job Description

We are working with a well-established business to recruit an ambitious and detail-oriented Assistant Buyer to join their product team. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone looking to develop their career in buying and merchandising, supporting the team across the full product lifecycle while building strong supplier relationships and contributing to range performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own and manage product timelines, ensuring smooth progress from initial concept through to delivery
  • Communicate regularly with suppliers both domestically and internationally to manage pricing, availability, and lead times
  • Produce detailed sales performance reports and range analysis to support buying decisions
  • Assist with the preparation of costings, quote packs, and product documentation for internal teams
  • Support stock planning, replenishment, and the management of end-of-life product lines
  • Contribute to the preparation of presentations, product samples, and materials for trade events and customer meetings
  • Maintain accurate product specifications and track samples in line with internal timelines

The Successful Candidate

  • Experience within a buying, merchandising, or product coordination environment
  • Strong analytical skills with a confident, data-driven approach
  • Excellent organisational ability with experience managing multiple priorities at once
  • A confident communicator with experience working with suppliers
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and comfortable with product management systems
  • A genuine passion for product and a proactive, hands-on approach to work
