Fire Engineering Associate Director / Director
Location: Hybrid / Remote – UK (offices across multiple regions)
Salary: £100,000–£125,000 + Bonus + Exceptional Benefits

The Opportunity
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an accomplished Associate Director/Director of Fire Engineering to join a leading independent fire and façade engineering consultancy recognised for its innovative, performance-based, and bespoke fire engineering approach to safety across the built environment. The consultancy delivers projects across a wide range of sectors, including commercial, residential, education, retail and leisure, healthcare, secure environments, hospitality, theatres and museums, industrial, transport and infrastructure, and oil and gas. Their portfolio features some of the most complex and high-profile developments and landmark buildings in the UK and internationally. This is a senior leadership role for an experienced fire engineer ready to oversee major projects, mentor high-performing teams, and shape the ongoing growth of a consultancy known for technical excellence, collaboration, and design innovation.
The Role
Take ownership of complex and high-profile fire engineering projects from inception to operation. Acting as both technical lead and project manager, you’ll guide clients and internal teams to deliver integrated, performance-driven fire safety strategies that align with architectural and operational objectives. You’ll also contribute to business development, team leadership, and strategic planning.
- Lead and deliver complex fire engineering projects across all stages of design and construction
- Provide technical direction and assurance on performance-based and bespoke fire safety design solutions
- Act as Project Director for major developments, ensuring technical excellence, commercial success, and client satisfaction
- Mentor and support engineers, fostering innovation, professional development, and collaboration
- Build and maintain client relationships, identifying opportunities for growth and repeat business
- Collaborate across disciplines – including façade, structural, and risk management – to deliver holistic solutions
- Contribute to internal best practice, technical standards, and thought leadership within the consultancy

About You
- Experienced fire engineering professional with a strong track record leading multidisciplinary projects
- Excellent technical understanding of performance-based fire design, CFD modelling, façade integration, and regulatory strategy
- Strong leadership, client relationship, and project management skills
- Commercially astute and confident in managing budgets, resources, and project delivery
- Collaborative and forward-thinking, with a passion for advancing fire safety through innovative and bespoke design solutions
- Comfortable operating at a senior leadership level, influencing both clients and internal teams
Desirable
- Proven ability to develop new business and contribute to strategic growth
- Fire engineering degree-qualified with senior experience in a fire engineering leadership team
