Engineering Director

Location: City of London, London (flexible with regular site presence)

Salary: £120,000 - £130,000 per annum + 15% bonus, car allowance, pension, medical

Role Overview

We are supporting the appointment of an Engineering Director for a major UK infrastructure programme. This is a senior leadership role reporting to the Chief Technical Officer, responsible for leading programme-wide engineering delivery and ensuring design is delivered to required quality, maturity, cost and schedule.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead Programme Engineering Teams and Risk & Opportunities function
  • Ensure delivery of a safe, mature, high-quality design aligned to cost and schedule
  • Drive replication of an existing reference design
  • Oversee configuration management and design integration across programmes
  • Act as senior escalation point for complex technical challenges
  • Discharge Principal Designer responsibilities under CDM regulations
  • Lead technical risk management and strategic response to programme-level issues
  • Work closely with delivery teams, supply chain and design partners

Candidate Profile

  • Director-level experience in major infrastructure or nuclear projects
  • Strong background in engineering leadership across complex programmes
  • Experience delivering within regulated environments (nuclear highly desirable)
  • Strong understanding of design governance, configuration management and risk
  • Ability to influence at senior stakeholder level (internal and external)
  • Chartered Engineer (or equivalent)
