FULL DESCRIPTION

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is recruiting a Sustainability Manager for a permanent role in Workington, Cumbria. Salary: £50,000 - £60,000 per annum plus car allowance and benefits.

Sustainability Manager - Workington, Cumbria

As the Sustainability Manager you will work closely with project and design teams, stakeholders and the supply chain. You will develop and implement energy management and carbon reduction plans, ensuring compliance with ISO 50001 and assist in achieving the goals set out by the client's Sustainability Plan. You will guide bid teams and operational teams on client and framework requirements, explore innovation in construction for carbon reductions, and contribute to sustainability strategy development.

Main Responsibilities

  • Develop project specific sustainability management plans aligned to client strategy.
  • Liaise with project site teams and supply chain to meet sustainability objectives.
  • Develop communication tools (guidance, training, newsletters) on sustainability issues.
  • Help deliver ISO 50001 commitments and assist in data collection and GHG reporting.
  • Identify opportunities for value and sustainable delivery.
  • Assist designers and engineers in using sustainable materials.
  • Capture best practice and produce case studies.
  • Engage with Procurement to drive continuous improvement.
  • Report monthly on sustainability performance.
  • Identify own development opportunities to support projects.
  • Contribute to winning work (PQQs, tenders, interviews).

Experience and Qualifications

  • Good knowledge of sustainability in construction through experience, training, or education.
  • Degree level qualification preferred; working towards ISEF membership (or equivalent).
  • Understanding of construction process and desire to find sustainable solutions.
  • Good understanding of carbon reduction planning.
  • Must have experience in the Nuclear industry.
  • Must be eligible to work in the UK and obtain Security Clearance.
