Volunteer and Outreach Supervisor

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Volunteer and Outreach Supervisor to coordinate outreach advice services across the London Borough of Lewisham while leading the recruitment, development, and supervision of volunteers as part of the Merchant Taylors' Foundation Training Academy project. The role involves planning community-based advice hubs, ensuring service quality, and building a sustainable pipeline of trained volunteer advisers.

Job Summary

  • Salary: £34,000 – £36,000 per annum (depending on experience).

About the Role

The Volunteer and Outreach Supervisor will play a central role in the success of this initiative. The postholder will be responsible for coordinating outreach advice services across Lewisham, while also leading on the recruitment, development and supervision of volunteers. The role brings together operational delivery with people development, ensuring that high-quality advice is delivered from day one while building a strong and sustainable pipeline of local talent.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead the recruitment, training and ongoing development of volunteers.
  • Provide regular supervision, mentoring and feedback to volunteers.
  • Coordinate outreach services across community settings, planning and scheduling sessions.
  • Ensure quality of advice provision by supervising volunteer casework and providing constructive feedback.
  • Develop strong relationships with local partners, community organisations and referral partners.
  • Maintain accurate records, contribute to monitoring and reporting requirements.

Person Specification

  • Experience of working with, supporting or managing volunteers.
  • Experience of coordinating services in a community or outreach setting.
  • Understanding of advice services or similar client-focused support provision.
  • Knowledge of working with vulnerable or diverse communities.
  • Awareness of learning, training or development approaches.
  • Accredited as [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Supervisor or equivalent qualification.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to motivate, support and develop individuals.
  • Ability to organise and coordinate work across multiple locations.
  • Ability to monitor performance and maintain quality standards.

  • Good IT skills.
