Materials Laboratory Technician

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is hiring a Materials Laboratory Technician in East Kilbride. This full-time, on-site position offers £10.85 - £12.71 per hour.

About the Role

We are looking for a dedicated and detail-oriented Laboratory Technician to join our team based at East Kilbride. This role offers an exciting opportunity to work with a variety of laboratory tests, assist in maintaining quality standards, and ensure the smooth running of laboratory operations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Data Entry: Accurately input test results and ensure data integrity.
  • Laboratory Testing: Perform various soil and concrete tests while following strict quality procedures.
  • Quality Control: Collaborate with the quality department to arrange calibrations and report any equipment issues.
  • Health & Safety Compliance: Maintain high standards of laboratory practice, cleanliness, and safety procedures.
  • Teamwork & Independence: Work effectively as part of a team, with the initiative to carry out tasks independently.
  • UKAS Audits: Assist with audits and ensure in-house testing meets turnaround time expectations.
  • General Lab Duties: Perform any other tasks as assigned by your senior or lab manager.

About You

We are looking for a candidate who is eager to learn, reliable, and has great attention to detail.

  • Education: GCSE level or above with strong numeracy and literacy skills.
  • Experience in Geotechnical & Construction Materials Testing is an advantage.
  • Good oral, written, and numeracy skills.
  • Familiarity with safe working practices in a laboratory setting.
  • Proficiency with IT, including Microsoft Excel.
  • Strong observational skills and an eye for detail.
  • Physically fit to handle the manual aspects of the role.
