The Role
The Supply Chain Quality Manager is responsible for building [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s end-to-end quality management system, distilling established Unilever practices - spanning our supply chain network across contract manufacturers and 3PLs. Working effectively across multiple functions, this person designs the processes, standards and controls that prevent quality failures before they reach customers, and leads resolution when they do. This is a hands-on, field-facing role. Approximately 30% of your time will be spent on-site at supplier facilities and 3PL warehouses across the UK and internationally - observing processes firsthand, building relationships with operational teams and identifying and resolving issues. This is a junior to mid level role which reports into our Head of Supply Chain. Please note, we are not currently partnering with any external recruiters on this role. What you will do
- Quality management system build: Design and implement [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s end-to-end QMS; define quality standards, SOPs and control points; drive root cause analysis and corrective/preventative actions.
- Manufacturer quality management: Conduct on-site supplier audits across UK and international partners; ensure documented procedures; develop manufacturer quality scorecards and KPI tracking; investigate non-conformances; help define quality specifications.
- 3PL & fulfilment quality: Partner with fulfilment team to embed quality controls; define inbound goods verification; conduct regular on-site 3PL visits; develop 3PL quality scorecard; lead investigations.
- Quality reporting, data & escalation: Build the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] quality dashboard; produce monthly quality report for senior leadership; support external reporting; own transition to scalable data processes.
- Continuous improvement: Leverage quality data to identify failure patterns; work with suppliers to reduce defect rates; implement preventative controls; report trends to leadership.
What we need from you
- Proven experience (4+ years) in supply chain, supplier or operations quality role - ideally in FMCG
- Hands-on auditing experience - comfortable with on-site visits
- Ability to influence without direct authority
- Experience building or significantly improving quality processes
- Comfortable with regular UK and international travel (approx. 30%)
- Data-driven - able to build dashboards and scorecards
- Confident with manual/spreadsheet-based data environments
- Excellent communicator - with warehouse operatives, suppliers and senior leadership
