Opened in 1834 as a Coaching Inn, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is Cambridge’s oldest Hotel. For 180 years, the Hotel was added to, updated, and modernised in line with the age; however, it was the reopening in 2018 after a four-year £80m full renovation that really positioned the Hotel. It is now Cambridge's 'go to’ destination, alluring visitors with the promise of a sense of modern luxury.
What Will You Be Doing
As a Kitchen Porter, you will be responsible for maintaining high standards of cleanliness, ensuring the kitchens are organised, and supporting chefs with basic tasks. This is a vital role that helps keep the service running efficiently every day.
The Duties
- Wash and clean all kitchen equipment, utensils, and crockery
- Ensure the Team Member Buttery is clean and stocked.
- Maintain the cleanliness of kitchen areas, storerooms, and back-of-house spaces
- Operate dishwashing equipment safely and efficiently
- Assist chefs with basic food prep tasks when required
- Remove waste and recycling, ensuring correct disposal
- Keep storage areas organised and assist with deliveries
- Follow health, hygiene, and safety standards at all times
- Support the wider kitchen team during busy service periods
- Manual handling or lifting may be required, and the work is physically demanding.
What Are We Looking For In You
- Have a strong work ethic and positive attitude
- Are reliable, punctual, and able to work in a fast-paced environment
- Can work well in a team and communicate clearly
- Are physically able to undertake a hands-on, active role
- Can work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends
- Have previous kitchen porter or kitchen experience (preferred but not essential)
