Job Description

Are you ready to use your construction knowledge, experience and project delivery expertise on projects that genuinely make a difference? This role gives you the chance to shape a wide range of activities at Oldbury, from installing new equipment and facilities to supporting de‑planting and demolition work.

You will join a team of experienced Site Engineers who take pride in delivering safe, well‑planned and well‑executed projects. If you are self‑motivated, practical and enjoy keeping things moving in the right direction, you will feel at home here.

What will you be doing

You will oversee construction and demolition work across the site, making sure contractors deliver safely, efficiently and in line with agreed standards. This includes reviewing work documentation and ensuring that the right controls are in place before any task begins. Your judgement and ability to spot issues early will help keep our projects running smoothly. You will bring a positive, proactive and professional attitude to your work, setting a good example on site and reinforcing the behaviours we expect from others.

You will also play an important part in strengthening our safety culture. You will look for opportunities to improve, share learning and encourage good practice across the team. Your approach and attitude will help build trust, influence behaviour and promote accountability. You will need to able to adapt to changing priorities and support others.

Key activities include:

  • Ensuring contractors carry out their work safely and on schedule
  • Reviewing and accepting method statements, safe systems of work and supporting documentation
  • Promoting strong safety and environmental standards in everyday work
  • Planning, coordinating and responding to changing site demands

Who are we looking for

You will be someone who understands how to manage construction activities on a live site, comfortable making decisions and able to maintain high safety standards. You will bring a proactive mindset, clear communication and the confidence to guide contractors and colleagues when needed. Strong organisational skills and a calm approach to shifting priorities are important.

You must have experience supervising or managing construction work, an HNC or NVQ Level 4 (or equivalent), and a solid understanding of CDM regulations. You will also need CITB Site Management Safety Training Scheme or a NEBOSH Construction Certificate. Familiarity with relevant company or local procedures is essential, but you will receive support to build knowledge where needed.

We are looking for:

  • Experience managing or supervising construction activities
  • HNC or NVQ Level 4 or equivalent experience
  • CITB SMSTS or NEBOSH Construction Certificate
  • Thorough knowledge of CDM regulations

We also welcome applications from those looking to develop and may not meet all essential criteria. In these cases, a lower grade may be offered as a development opportunity. The successful candidate would be supported with a Personal Development Plan (PDP) to enable progression into the role.
