Job Description

Are you ready to play a pivotal role in one of the most important engineering challenges on the Hinkley Point A site? Do you thrive in hands‑on, technical environments where every decision supports safe, successful and highly complex waste retrieval and processing activities?

This is your opportunity to join the team delivering the Hinkley Wet Waste Retrievals and Processing projects key to the ILW waste journey and already in exciting stages of implementation, from active commissioning through to the final phases before operation. As a Project Engineer, you will be at the centre of activities such as waste recovery, equipment installation, commissioning and encapsulation processes, working closely with both internal teams and specialist contractors.

Key Responsibilities

  • Producing technical solutions, specifications, drawings and work packages
  • Managing and supporting design, modification and commissioning activities
  • Maintaining documentation, safety compliance and configuration control
  • Contributing to reviews, safety studies, and continuous improvement

Requirements

  • Minimum HNC, Engineering Degree or NQF Level 4 equivalent
  • Experience in a disciplined engineering role (mechanical, electrical, C&I, or civil) within an industrial plant environment
  • Strong understanding of engineering standards and sound judgement in safety-critical activities
  • Confidence to contribute to design reviews, produce high-quality documentation, and support safe commissioning or decommissioning work
  • Experience in nuclear or project engineering beneficial
  • Familiarity with risk assessment methodology, CDM responsibilities, Safety Rules or Quality Management System
