Head of Drama
Location: Ilford IG4 (London) | Salary: M1 to UPS3 plus TLR 2C (Outer London) | Interviewing: Immediately
We are seeking an inspiring and dynamic Head of Drama to lead and develop our Drama department, driving excellence in teaching, learning and student achievement.

About the Role

As Head of Drama, you will provide strong professional leadership and management of the subject, ensuring high-quality teaching, effective use of resources, and outstanding outcomes for all pupils. You will play a key role in shaping whole-school practice while promoting creativity, confidence and a passion for the performing arts.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and develop the Drama curriculum in line with school priorities and national requirements
  • Ensure high standards of teaching, learning and assessment across the department
  • Use data effectively to monitor progress, set targets and raise achievement
  • Support and develop staff, fostering a positive and collaborative team culture
  • Promote inclusive practices that meet the needs of all learners
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement, policy development and enrichment opportunities
  • Build strong relationships with parents, the community and external partners

About You

  • A degree in Drama or a related field
  • An excellent classroom practitioner with strong subject knowledge
  • Proven ability to inspire students and staff
  • Skilled in using data to improve outcomes and inform teaching
  • A committed leader with a clear vision for subject development
