Job Description

A well-established specialist SEN school in Croydon is seeking a Principal Speech and Language Therapist to support and develop therapy provision across the school. This is a senior role within a multidisciplinary team, offering the opportunity to deliver high-quality, evidence-informed therapy for children and young people with autism and complex communication needs. You will play a key role in supporting therapy outcomes, working closely with senior leadership and education staff to ensure a joined-up approach that helps pupils access learning and develop independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and model high-quality speech and language therapy
  • Carry out assessments, diagnosis and intervention planning
  • Support the coordination of therapy provision across the school
  • Provide guidance and informal support to therapy staff where needed
  • Ensure interventions align with EHCP outcomes
  • Work collaboratively with teachers, support staff and clinical teams
  • Monitor pupil progress and adapt interventions accordingly
  • Liaise with families, external professionals and stakeholders
  • Contribute to the ongoing development of therapy services

Requirements

  • Recognised Speech and Language Therapy qualification
  • HCPC registered and RCSLT member (or equivalent)
  • Strong SEN experience, ideally autism
  • Some experience supporting or mentoring others (desirable)
  • Understanding of evidence-based and neuro-affirming practice
  • Experience working within multidisciplinary teams
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • Full UK Right to Work
