Oxbridge Graduate Academic Mentor
Location: Central London, Greater London, England | Salary: £500 - 600 per week | Type: Full Time
The Role
As an Academic Mentor, you will play a pivotal role in stretching, challenging, and inspiring some of the school’s most able students. You will work both independently and alongside experienced teaching staff to deliver high-impact academic support.
- Delivering 1:1 and small group mentoring sessions for high-attaining students across KS4 and KS5.
- Supporting students with Oxbridge and competitive university applications, including personal statements, admissions tests, and interview preparation.
- Designing and leading super-curricular and enrichment sessions within your subject specialism.
- Running academic workshops, seminars, and discussion groups to deepen subject knowledge beyond the curriculum.
- Assisting with extension work for gifted and talented pupils.
- Supporting classroom teaching where appropriate, particularly with top sets.
- Contributing to the school’s wider academic enrichment programme (e.g. societies, competitions, lecture series).
- Tracking student progress and providing targeted academic guidance.
Candidate Profile
We are seeking exceptional candidates who:
- Hold a degree from the University of Oxford or University of Cambridge (2:1 or above).
- Possess outstanding subject knowledge and academic depth.
- Have a strong interest in education, mentoring, or academia.
- Demonstrate the ability to inspire, challenge, and engage high-achieving students.
- Have excellent communication, analytical, and interpersonal skills.
- Are highly organised, proactive, and intellectually curious.
- Have prior experience in tutoring, mentoring, or working with young people (highly desirable but not essential).
