About the Role

We are currently recruiting on behalf of a high-achieving secondary school in the Redbridge area of London, seeking an ambitious and inspirational Deputy Head of English to join their successful and well-established department.

This is an exciting leadership opportunity for a talented English specialist with a passion for driving standards, developing staff, and delivering outstanding outcomes for students.

  • Support the Head of English in providing strong leadership and strategic direction for the department
  • Drive high standards of teaching and learning, ensuring excellent outcomes for all pupils
  • Lead on key areas such as curriculum development, assessment, and intervention strategies
  • Use data effectively to monitor progress, identify underachievement, and implement targeted support plans
  • Mentor, support, and challenge colleagues to maintain consistently high-quality teaching
  • Contribute to whole-school improvement and play an active role in shaping policy and practice

The Ideal Candidate

  • Holds Qualified Teacher Status (QTS)
  • Degree in English or a related subject
  • Proven track record of successful teaching in a secondary school setting
  • Demonstrates strong leadership potential or existing middle leadership experience
  • Excellent subject knowledge with the ability to inspire both students and staff
  • Skilled in using data to raise attainment and drive improvement
  • Strong communication, organisational, and decision-making skills
  • Right to work in the UK
