£24,921 - 26,716 per year | Full-time | Entry-level

Duties

Computer Science Teacher Training | £26,761 Salary | PGCE + QTS | Carlisle

Earn while you train. Qualify in 12 months. Start September 2026.

Is this you?

You're a Computing or Computer Science graduate — or someone with strong A-level Computer Science — who loves the subject and wants to inspire the next generation of tech thinkers. If so, we want to hear from you.

What we're offering

  • £26,761 salary from day one — you earn throughout your entire training year
  • PGCE + QTS in just 12 months, recognised across England
  • Ofsted 'Outstanding' rated programme with a 95% trainee success rate
  • Structured mentorship from experienced Computer Science teachers
  • Modern, well-equipped computing facilities
  • Enrichment opportunities including coding clubs, programming competitions, and digital skills programmes

How the training works

You'll spend four days a week in school, with Wednesdays set aside for online study and professional development.

  • September – December: Observe lessons, team-teach alongside your mentor, and build your confidence in the classroom.
  • January – March: Take the lead on planning and delivering lessons, and begin developing your assessment strategies.
  • April – July: Teach independently, refine your classroom management, and complete your PGCE and QTS.

What you'll need

  • A degree in Computer Science, Computing, Software Engineering, or a closely related field (2:1 or above preferred) — or strong A-level Computer Science
  • A genuine passion for computing and for teaching
  • Strong communication and organisational skills

A driving licence is helpful but not essential — Carlisle has good public transport links.
