Duties

STEM Graduate Teacher Training | PGCE + QTS in 12 Months

Starting Salary £26,761 | Burnley | Accrington | Blackburn | September 2026

Are you a Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics graduate wondering what comes next? Do you want to turn your passion for STEM into a career that genuinely makes a difference?

If so, we have the perfect opportunity for you.

We are looking for enthusiastic STEM graduates — or aspiring teachers with strong A-levels in Chemistry, Physics, or Mathematics — to join our teacher training programme across our secondary schools in Burnley, Accrington, and Blackburn.

What's the opportunity?

Earn while you train from day one with a £26,761 starting salary. In just 12 months you will gain both a PGCE and QTS — nationally recognised qualifications that open doors to teaching roles across England.

Our programme is Ofsted 'Outstanding' rated with a 95% trainee success rate, combining real classroom experience with structured academic study.

How does the training work?

We use a 4+1 model — four days a week in school, with Wednesdays dedicated to online PGCE study and professional development.

  • September – December: observe lessons, team-teach with your mentor, and build your classroom confidence
  • January – March: take the lead on planning and delivering lessons, and develop your assessment skills
  • April – July: teach independently, refine your practice, and complete your PGCE and QTS

What's on offer?

  • £26,761 starting salary — earn from day one
  • PGCE + QTS in 12 months
  • Ofsted 'Outstanding' rated programme with 95% success rate
  • Structured mentorship from experienced STEM teachers
  • Modern science labs and well-equipped maths classrooms
  • Access to STEM clubs, competitions, and enrichment programmes
  • Schools well connected by road and rail across East Lancashire

What do you need?

  • A degree in Chemistry, Physics, Mathematics, or a closely related STEM subject (2:1 or above preferred), or strong A-levels in these subjects
  • A genuine passion for STEM and for working with young people
  • Strong communication and organisational skills
  • A commitment to developing as a teacher

A driving licence is recommended as the role spans three schools across East Lancashire, though all sites are accessible by public transport.

Interviews are ongoing for a September 2026 start. Apply now by contacting Michael at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].
