Maintenance Assistant

We currently have an exciting opportunity available to join our Property and Maintenance Team as a Maintenance Assistant based in Aberdeen. This will be a full-time permanent position and in return, you will receive competitive salary and benefits.

Hours: 39 hours per week
Work Pattern: Monday to Friday (8.00am - 4.30pm, with an early finish on a Friday)
Rate/Salary: £12.60 per hour or £24,336.00 per annum
Location: Aberdeen City, (Based mainly at Broomhill Park Service, however role will cover other [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] properties)
Additional Info: Applicants must hold a valid UK Drivers License as you will be expected to work across multiple sites during the day, and preferably have access to your own transport, however we will consider those applicants who don't have their own transport but have a valid UK drivers licence, (please state in the covering letter if you have a valid Drivers License to help us process your application accordingly).

About the role

To provide a routine and proactive maintenance service at all [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]’s establishments and associated grounds, carrying out domestic repairs and maintenance work as and when required or identified.

Responsibilities of our Maintenance Assistant will include:

  • Being proactive in identifying potential maintenance issues and dealing with them appropriately.
  • Establishing, agreeing and implementing a routine to carry out daily, weekly and monthly tasks in consultation with the Head of Business, Property Inspector and Asset & Facilities Manager.
  • Identifying maintenance issues that are out with their own skills and knowledge and referring them to the Head of Business, Property Inspector or Asset & Facilities Manager for action.
  • Liaising with Head of Business to identify and act upon any maintenance issues that may arise.
  • Using own initiative to identify the most cost effective and appropriate solution to maintenance issues and reporting these to the Clerk of Works.
  • Carrying out routine domestic maintenance and repair work involving a wide range of DIY skills.
  • Maintaining site grounds (footpaths, gutters, blocked drains etc) and assist with the maintenance of the gardens.
  • Ensuring Health and Safety standards are rigorously met by all, whilst undertaking maintenance and repair work.
  • Any other duties that may arise from time to time provided they are within the post holders capabilities.
  • Provide a call out service for emergency repairs as and when available.

What we are looking for in our Maintenance Assistant:

Experience:

  • A good working knowledge of general property maintenance and DIY tasks.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety

Other Job Requirements:

This role will involve a high degree of physical demanding work, including manual handling on a day to day basis, which will sometimes include moving heavy furniture and equipment, bending and lifting.
