Salary: £32,718.40 per annum / £15.73 per hour

About the Role

An exciting new Assistant Transport Manager opportunity at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]!

Overall Purpose: Manage transport administration by supporting the operation with all sub-contractor queries to ensure that the [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Service Centres are supported to deliver a service in line with Customer Service Level Agreements and Key Performance Indicators.

Main Responsibilities

  • Ensure all trunk vehicles from SC’s to the central hubs and back to the SC’s are available.
  • Ensure all details of driver changes/agency drivers are published via daily trunk update document.
  • Take responsibility for organising additional vehicles as required.
  • Maintain contractor files ensuring all compliance documentation is current.
  • Manage cost by identifying areas of efficiency in the trunking network.
  • Encourage and promote positive employee relations throughout the Operation encouraging a “Can Do” attitude.
  • Provide administrative assistance to aid the night operation.
  • Complete all reports accurately and within strict timelines.
  • Administrative tasks during the day.
  • Provide good quality pro-active information for night and day shift so reporting is high standard and sub-contractors paid as per SLA.
  • Communicate with all SC’s to ensure the Hub provides high quality service and they conform to company and customer SLA’s each morning.
  • Capture information to supply back and aid with revenue capture/protection.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Previous experience in transport preferred.
  • Previous experience in the Mail or Distribution industry.
  • Understanding of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Products is preferred but not essential.
  • Ability to work on own initiative.
  • Ideas driven and ability to formulate new methods to improve the operation.
  • Able to communicate well with people.
  • Able to produce reports in a concise manner.
  • Knowledge of the UK transport/road network preferred.
  • Good monitoring skills.
  • Ability to collate information to forward plan events on the road.
  • Proficient with Excel, Word, Outlook.
