Job Description

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance supervisor to join our Aggregate and Asphalt division and play a key role in launching our brand-new asphalt manufacturing plant in Wellingborough. This is a full-time, permanent position with training, development, and long-term career progression.

This is an exciting opportunity for a skilled fitter or maintenance engineer looking to step into a leadership role within a well-established infrastructure business. You will lead mechanical maintenance activities to maximise plant uptime, reliability and production efficiency, while maintaining the highest standards of health, safety and compliance.

With over 15 years’ experience producing high-quality asphalt, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] operates seven successful asphalt plants across the South of England and is now expanding into the Midlands with our eighth site in Wellingborough. The successful Lead Fitter will join a brand-new team and will be crucial to setting up the new plant, helping to establish engineering standards, site performance and operational success from the very beginning.

Joining ahead of the plant opening in 2027, you will initially work across our existing Southeast sites, receiving full training and structured induction support to understand our operations, systems and engineering standards. By the time the new plant opens, you will be fully prepared to lead from day one and play a major role in establishing a successful new production site.

Duties

  • Leading maintenance activities to maximise plant uptime and efficiency
  • Planning and delivering preventative, reactive and predictive maintenance
  • Supervising and supporting the engineering team and contractors on site
  • Carrying out fault finding, repairs and installation work across plant equipment
  • Ensuring compliance with health, safety and environmental standards, including LOTOTO procedures
  • Managing maintenance records, inspections and supporting CMMS systems
  • Liaising with site teams to prioritise and deliver engineering requirements
  • Mentoring and developing apprentices and wider team members

Requirements

We are looking for an experienced engineer with a background in asphalt, aggregates or a similar heavy industrial environment. You will have strong mechanical and electrical maintenance skills, good fault-finding ability, and a solid understanding of health and safety practices. Previous experience leading or supervising a team is essential, along with a proactive and organised approach. A relevant engineering qualification and full UK driving licence are required.
