Design Manager

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Solutions Group (EESG) is seeking a proactive and organised Design Manager to oversee and enhance the Design function. This role reports to the Head of Operations and is pivotal in ensuring design excellence and system integration across Electrical, Mechanical and Systems.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design Process: Responsible for effective implementation of the design process and accountability for Pre-Construction completing in line with procedures and programme.
  • Key Measures: Overall accountability for Utilisation, Efficiency and Productivity of Design Resources.
  • People Management: Inspire, develop and nurture talent. Manage up to 4 Design Team Leads.
  • Continuous Improvement: Shape future services, procedures and output with the wider team.
  • Design Review: Ensure direct reports review documentation accurately and on time to inform project pricing, timelines and scope.

Required Skills and Experience

  • Industry Experience: Mid-Senior level within Design environments, minimum 3 years commercial Design.
  • Technical Knowledge: Building Services, RIBA, Commercial PV.
  • Design & Team Management: Excellent leadership skills with experience coaching managers.
  • CDM Knowledge: Experience with Design Risk Assessment, Design Risk Registers.
  • Communication: Strong cross-functional collaborative style.

Qualifications & Experience

  • NIC/EAL Level 4 Electrical Design
  • 18th Edition (BS 7671)
  • Strong knowledge of commercial DC Optimised PV systems and integration to wider building services.
