Director, Unsecured Consumer Credit

The Director, Unsecured Consumer Credit, works on behalf of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] members to ensure credit legislation and regulation is brought into the 21st century, allowing firms and consumers to reap the benefits.

The Director, Unsecured Consumer Credit, works on behalf of our members to ensure:

  • Credit legislation and regulation is brought into the 21st century, allowing firms and consumers to reap the benefits.
  • Customers in or at risk of financial difficulty have access to appropriate support within an efficient and equitably funded debt advice sector, including a framework or guiding set of principles for managing coercive debt or behaviour.
  • Members have confidence in and appropriate representation in the future governance arrangements for the credit information market.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and actively manage a business plan and priority policy areas for the Unsecured Consumer Credit Products and Services Board, taking account of all members’ views.
  • Actively promote a programme of relationship management with members and associate members, to ensure delivery of member value across the breadth of stream members.
  • Ensure the team works collaboratively to deliver persuasive, evidence-based advocacy on priority policy, legal and regulatory issues, that reflect the breadth of members’ interests, shaping a business plan covering: Consumer Credit legislation and Regulation, Financial Difficulty, Credit Data.
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key legislators, regulators and supervisors and build relationships with key non-financial regulators and supervisors, as required.
