Commercial Finance is at a pivotal stage with unprecedented focus on business growth and access to finance, significant challenges and opportunities for the regulatory framework, and a range of policy developments that will affect the provision of finance for SMEs across the country.

This role provides an exciting and unique opportunity to shape the future policy framework for business banking and finance, influence the narrative on high profile issues such as personal guarantees, and develop expertise across a range of policy, regulatory, and other topics.

The Commercial Finance team is seeking a Manager to further the delivery of its policy priorities and wider membership offering. The Manager will become a subject matter expert on specific areas of policy, will maintain their own relationships with members and other stakeholders, as well as supporting senior colleagues and working collaboratively both within the team and across [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal].

Key Responsibilities

  • Leading/becoming a subject matter expert on a range of policy issues affecting access to finance and banking, including personal guarantees, commercial credit data sharing, as well as sector specific issues, under the support and direction of senior colleagues. Developing proficiency in other relevant areas such as regulation of business banking, restructuring and insolvency, innovation in SME banking/finance, Open Banking/Finance, economic crime, etc.
  • Drafting consultation responses, policy papers, board papers and briefings, identifying opportunities to improve policy outcomes.
  • Working flexibly within the Commercial Finance team to further the delivery of the policy priorities and wider membership offering including data and research, events and training.
  • Supporting the running of key member committees, including the Commercial Product and Service Board, including active participation at such meetings and deputising for senior colleagues, preparing agendas and minutes and other administrative matters as required.
