FULL DESCRIPTION

VCARB F1 Team - Model Shop Inspector

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] (part of [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]) is one of two Red Bull-owned Formula 1 teams. We are currently looking for an experienced Model Shop Inspector to inspect metal and ADM components for our wind tunnel models using metrology and 3D scanning. Your work will ensure parts and assemblies meet our engineering standards, and you’ll provide clear, accurate reports to support the build and development of our scale models.

Responsibilities

  • Inspection and Scanning – Supporting accurate assembly of scale models, measuring and checking parts against specification using metrology and 3D scanning tools, identifying faults and non-conformances, developing quality control processes for models and sub-assemblies, providing inspection and quality control support to the Model Shop and Additive Manufacturing teams.
  • Process improvement and collaboration – Working closely with Model Shop, Design and Aero teams to refine scale models and processes, suggesting and implementing new methods, maintaining inspection equipment, managing workload to tight deadlines, flexible working hours.

Experience & Requirements

  • Background in automotive or engineering, ideally F1
  • Strong numerical skills and confidence interpreting engineering specifications
  • Proven experience programming CMMs with PC-DMIS
  • Experience using inspection arms and software such as PolyWorks
  • Solid understanding of GD&T
  • Comfortable using traditional physical inspection tools
  • Excellent knowledge of Leica (or similar) hardware and software, including automated inspection program creation
  • Familiarity with measurement arms and scanning/inspection software (PolyWorks, Leica, Creaform)
  • Able to interrogate CAD assemblies and read complex engineering drawings
  • Confident using IT in a Windows environment (Excel, Word, Outlook)
  • Clear, confident communicator with a practical, can-do attitude
  • Enthusiastic and flexible
  • Proactively aware of Health & Safety
  • Calm under pressure, strong time-management skills, self-motivated, organised, attentive to detail, team-player attitude
  • Travel 10-20%
