Senior Onsite Instrumentation Engineer

Job Requirements

  • A 2:1 or first-class degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electronics Engineering, Noise & Vibrations, Machine Dynamics, Acoustics, Instrumentation or similar.
  • Good technical understanding of sensors and data acquisition. Background in machine dynamics (centrifugal loads, noise, vibrations, resonance, stress and fatigue) beneficial.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to anticipate risks and potential issues.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills to create positive client impressions and lead a small team (2-4) of instrumentation technicians.
  • Ideally 1+ years of professional engineering experience (candidates without experience but with genuine interest welcome to apply).

Job Description

The work involves installation of precision monitoring instrumentation on high-value assets globally. Approximately 20-30% of the engineer’s time spent onsite (likely increasing), remaining time for development, assembly, and testing of bespoke instrumentation systems. Daily tasks include precision-soldering of miniature components, calibration, configuration of data acquisition systems and data acquisition. The engineer works as a bridge between mechanical engineering, electronics engineering and data analytics teams. Experience with soldering small-scale assemblies and understanding of instrumentation and sensor fundamentals required.
