Lead Support Worker - [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], Barnsley. Permanent, £28,035 per annum.

Job Introduction

At [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], we support people with Learning Disabilities and mental health issues across England. As a Lead Support Worker, you’ll deliver a high-quality, person-centred service to the people we support, enabling them to live independent and fulfilled lives. You’ll also play a key role in supporting the Team Manager to achieve operational excellence and positive outcomes.

Where will I be working? You will be working in one of our supported living services in Barnsley. Our services offer support for adults with Learning Disabilities, mental health needs and varied health and mobility conditions.

Shift Patterns: We would like you to have a flexible approach to the role, be able to work a full range of shift patterns including 7am starts till 5pm then a 5pm sleep in till between 7am and 10am the next morning. The service offers support to individuals living in their own homes in local communities therefore you will have a base. The job is very rewarding enabling individuals to reach their full potential.

Role Responsibility

  • Carry out individual and service-level audits to ensure compliance with organisational standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Conduct structured observations of Support Workers during service delivery, providing feedback and mentoring to support their development.
  • Review and update support plans using the Nourish system, ensuring they reflect changing needs and preferences.
  • Monitor the quality of recorded interactions to uphold person-centred standards.
  • Promote and assist in implementing digital tools and new ways of working to improve service efficiency.
  • Act as the first point of contact for wellbeing and safety concerns, liaising with families, partner agencies, and internal teams.
  • Support competency assessments and buddying for new team members.
  • Work on rota with people we support as well as have time off the rota to complete certain tasks.

The Ideal Candidate

We’re seeking someone who:

  • Has previous experience as a Support Worker in adult care, ideally with Learning Disabilities.
  • Demonstrates effective communication and organisational skills.
  • Leads by example, maintaining professional boundaries and integrity.
  • Is empathetic, respectful, and able to adjust their approach to suit individuals and situations.
  • Is confident using digital systems for care recording and embraces change positively.
  • Holds or is willing to complete NVQ Level 2/3 in Health & Social care.
  • Is passionate about helping people achieve their goals and committed to continuous improvement.
