[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our team in Altrincham, UK (Hybrid). You will work on building and testing scalable data-driven systems for real-time and historical speed/mobility data. This role requires 6+ years of production software development experience.

What you’ll do

  • Work as part of a small team building and testing scalable, reliable, and efficient data driven systems.
  • See the big picture, make judgment calls with a customer lens.
  • Keep up with technology and improve systems proactively.
  • Use design experience to create thoughtful, efficient, and durable designs at large scale.
  • Work on high-profile systems impacting the company’s bottom line.
  • Regularly deploy and monitor systems for optimum uptime.
  • Think creatively to solve customer problems.

About you

  • Software Engineer with 6+ years of production-level software development, architecture, and design.
  • Solid coding skills including Java and basic Python understanding.
  • Experience with Spark, Hadoop, Kafka, MapReduce or similar big data technologies highly desirable.
  • Solid DB skills (relational, document, key-value) and SQL-like languages.
  • Experience developing high scale REST based APIs.
  • Experience with geo-spatial data via PostGIS desirable.
  • Experience with Scala, AWS services (Kinesis, RDS, etc.) beneficial.
  • Familiarity with Jenkins, GitHub Actions, Terraform a plus.
  • Experience with CI/CD, containerization, cloud technologies, microservices.
  • Team player with leadership qualities.
  • Bachelor or advanced degree in computer science, mathematics, or related discipline.
