Job Overview

We are looking for a Support Worker to join [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] Services in our supported accommodation service for young people aged 16–18. This role involves shift work including evenings and weekends. You will support young people in developing independence, life skills, and confidence in a safe environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Deliver and support individual support plans tailored to each young person
  • Encourage independence, life skills, and positive routines
  • Provide consistent emotional support and guidance
  • Work alongside social workers, education providers, and external services
  • Follow all safeguarding and child protection procedures
  • Report and respond to any concerns around safety or wellbeing
  • Maintain accurate records including daily logs, incidents, and support plans
  • Ensure the home is safe, clean, and well-managed
  • Support young people into education, training, or employment
  • Encourage participation in social and community activities
  • Manage challenging situations calmly and professionally

Requirements

  • Experience in supported accommodation, social care, or youth work
  • Ideally experience supporting young people aged 16–18
  • Strong understanding of safeguarding and child protection
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills
  • Calm, resilient, and able to manage challenging situations
  • Level 3 or 4 Health and Social Care (or working towards)

Desirable

  • Level 5 Health and Social Care
  • Experience supporting young people with complex needs (mental health, behavioural challenges, substance misuse)
