Overview

Reference: MA06 EDGBASTON. Part Time Management Accountant role at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. This is a part-time position, ideally 4 days (30 hours) per week, but alternative hours or work patterns can be discussed. The role is mainly office-based with some flexibility for remote working after a successful induction.

The Role

Do you have strong financial reporting experience and enjoy working closely with budget holders? Are you confident using Excel and management information systems? [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] is looking for an experienced and detail-focused Management Accountant to support the Director of Finance & Operations. You will be responsible for preparing budgets, management accounts and financial reports, as well as supporting the wider finance function. This opportunity would suit someone looking for a first move out of practice into industry, who is a qualified accountant or qualified by experience. We would also be open to hearing from part qualified individuals looking to gain their full qualification whilst in post.

Key Responsibilities

  • Preparation of monthly management accounts
  • Monitoring of the budgets across the school and working closely with budget holders to manage areas of overspend
  • Taking ownership of the onboarding and development of the new finance system
  • Working closely with the Director of Finance and Operation on the preparation of board papers; with the potential of presenting to the board at committee meetings
  • Review of the outsourced catering finance reports to manage and highlight areas of overspend
  • Providing oversight of the finance operations and identifying areas to improve efficiency with processing

The Person

  • A qualified / part qualified or qualified by experience Management Accountant, with relevant experience
  • Proven experience in financial reporting and in the preparation of management accounts, forecasts and budgets
  • Good working knowledge of various accounts packages
  • Confident in Microsoft Office, with advanced Excel skills and the ability to quickly learn new management information systems
  • Able to understand interpret and communicate financial data at all levels
  • Excellent collaboration and communication skills
  • Excellent time management, prioritisation and organisational skills
  • Exceptional attention to detail
  • Able to work on own initiative and motivate and direct others and support with the line management of the team, as required
  • Able to demonstrate a commitment to the School’s values and strategic goals
  • A genuine interest in working within the education sector
  • Whilst previous experience working in an independent school would be advantageous, it is not essential
