Controls Engineer

Location: Brockworth (Gloucester office) | Salary: Competitive | Type: Permanent | Work: On-site

Job Details

Our client is a specialist engineering company that delivers automated products and services for the manufacturing sector. They are recruiting for a Controls Engineer to join their team on a permanent basis. The role focuses on the development and support of bespoke automated machinery supplied worldwide. This role will be predominantly based at their Gloucester office with occasional international travel.

Responsibilities

  • Carry out software and hardware configuration of networked control systems
  • Program and integrate vision systems for inspection and measurement using Cognex or similar products
  • Provide control system support for prototype, new machine builds, and existing equipment in the field
  • Ensure and oversee machine safety to relevant international standards
  • Prepare support documentation for machine manufacture, testing, and customer documentation packages
  • Provide customer support and travel on-site as required
  • Identify opportunities for process, productivity, and quality improvements
  • Actively participate in product development and improvement

Requirements

  • Qualified to HNC/HND or equivalent in a software-related discipline
  • Proven experience in PLC, HMI, and motion programming, preferably using Rockwell Logix platform
  • Experience with Siemens Control systems and TIA portal is advantageous
  • Knowledge and programming of robotic applications, preferably with Yaskawa
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Self-motivated and adaptable
  • Able to travel internationally (approx. 2-3 weeks, 4-5 times per annum)
  • Current passport and fully COVID-19 vaccinated for international travel
