Maintenance Engineer

Location: Telford | Salary: £44k - 49k per year | Type: Permanent, On-site | Shift: 4 on 4 off days & nights (12-hour shifts)

Job Details

A large food manufacturer are seeking a Maintenance Engineer to join their large engineering team to provide engineering support across multiple manufacturing lines. You will be an apprentice trained Engineer with experience working within fast dynamic environments.

What You Will Do

  • Lead your team during breakdowns, applying your skills and expertise to resolve issues effectively.
  • Carry out preventative maintenance in line with schedules, ensuring machinery operates at peak performance.
  • Respond quickly to breakdowns across multiple areas, identifying root causes and suggesting improvements.
  • Communicate unscheduled disruptions to the Engineering Shift Manager and collaborate with operations to minimise downtime.
  • Maintain high standards of hygiene and adhere to health and safety guidelines within the department and site.
  • Utilise fault-finding techniques to identify and address issues promptly, ensuring smooth operations.

What You Will Bring

  • Advanced Engineering Apprenticeship in mechanical or electrical disciplines.
  • Solid engineering experience, ideally within food manufacturing or a similar industry.
  • Mechanical fitting skills, with machining, welding, and fabrication experience being advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and a proactive approach to challenges.
  • Desirable qualifications such as IEE 17th or 18th edition, advanced electrical certifications, and knowledge of PLCs and control systems.
