Location: Shrewsbury
Salary: £24,600 - £26,700 (depending on experience)
Working hours: 36.25 hours per week, Monday to Friday 9am - 5:15pm

Our clients Residential Department is expanding, and we’re looking for a motivated Legal Support Assistant – Level 1 to join their specialist team in Shrewsbury.
This role is ideal for someone who thrives in a fast‑paced environment, enjoys working collaboratively, and takes pride in delivering exceptional client service. You’ll be part of a friendly, supportive Legal Services Team, providing essential administrative and file‑related support to fee earners and helping the department deliver an efficient, professional service.

What You’ll Be Doing
- Providing high‑quality administrative and legal support across residential matters.
- Managing diaries, organising meetings, and acting as the first point of contact for enquiries.
- Gathering initial client details and liaising with the Legal Support Service team.
- Preparing correspondence, maintaining client files, and assisting with document bundles.
- Taking detailed instructions from clients (without giving legal advice) and supporting fee earners in progressing matters.
- Handling post‑completion tasks such as SDLT/LTT returns and Land Registry applications.
- Recording and monitoring your time on client matters, with up to 1 hour per day of fee‑earning activity.
- Ensuring compliance with firm procedures, professional standards, and GDPR.
What We’re Looking For
- 5 GCSEs (Grade 4/C or above) including English and Maths.
- Strong administrative experience with confidence managing busy diaries.
- Excellent written, verbal and in‑person communication skills.
- Ability to work proactively, use initiative and manage a varied workload.
- Strong organisational skills, exceptional accuracy and attention to detail.
- Solid IT literacy, particularly in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.
- Comfortable working under pressure and able to build rapport with clients and colleagues.
It would also be advantageous to have:
- A Law or Business degree, or a CILEX qualification.
- Previous experience in a legal support role.
- Familiarity with practice management or time‑recording systems.
- Basic understanding of legal principles.
