The Company

Our client, [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal], is a leading global manufacturing company based in Worcester. This is an excellent opportunity to work for a market leading Machine Tool manufacturer who have been at the forefront of the industry for many years.

Due to increased workload within the department, our client now has a requirement for an Assembly Precision Spindle Operative.

Job Description – The Role

The role is to repair broken [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] spindles to new standards and will involve various assembly tasks related to spindle build such as:

  • Precision measuring of spindle components.
  • Precision assembly and adjustment related to [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] work instructions.
  • Carrying out various quality checks during the assembly process involving precision equipment such as micrometers, test bars, dial test indicators, clamp force and axial force gauges.
  • Balancing of spindle cartridges.
  • Electrical checks of stators (new and re-used/repaired) to ensure conformance to standard [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] check sheets.
  • Some electrical assembly work is required however the role is mainly mechanically focused.

The Person

Essential Criteria

  • Background in precision engineering.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Self-motivated and good communication, attention to detail.
  • Organised, able to plan ahead and good ability to follow written procedures.
  • Ability to work to tight tolerances using hand tools and measuring equipment

Desirable Criteria

  • Apprentice trained.
  • Good understanding of mechanical component drawings and assemblies.
  • Previous experience in spindle assembly.
  • Good understanding of testing electrical motors and fault finding.
  • Previous experience with vernier callipers, depth mics, force gauges and micrometers.
  • IT skills, and previous experience with Microsoft packages
