Vehicle Mechanic Fitter Technician
Location: Hull (Leconfield) | Salary: £32,000–£33,000 per year | Type: Permanent, On-site
Job Details
This role at a UK defence organisation involves servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on military vehicles. The ideal candidate has NVQ Level 3 in vehicle maintenance and hands-on experience in mechanical roles. Benefits include enhanced overtime, pension, and healthcare. Key Responsibilities
- Carry out servicing, maintenance, diagnostics, and repairs on military vehicles and associated electrical systems
- Interpret technical drawings, engineering process plans, and customer specifications
- Complete accurate documentation, test certificates, and maintenance reports
- Conduct equipment inspections to meet production, safety, and quality standards
- Use workshop tools correctly and report defects or material issues
- Collaborate with a dedicated engineering team focused on precision, safety, and mission success
Requirements
- City & Guilds / NVQ Level 3 in Light or Heavy Vehicle Maintenance & Repair
- Proven hands-on experience in a similar mechanical role (ex‑forces, HGV/PSV, commercial dealerships, plant, agricultural machinery)
- Strong understanding of hydraulics, mechanics, and vehicle diagnostics
- Team-focused mindset with good communication skills
- Ability to obtain Security Check (SC) clearance (requires no criminal convictions + 5 years UK residency)
