Job Overview

[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] senior management team are committed to ensuring as an organisation we excel in complying with our statutory requirements and as such we are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Environmental, Health and Safety (EHS) Advisor to join our team to support our projects and promote compliance with our Environmental Health & Safety Management Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Support the EHS Manager in developing and enforcing EHS policies and procedures.
  • Cultivate an exceptional EHS culture on the projects.
  • Provide leadership and engagement to embed a culture of continuous improvement with respect to EHS, acting as the site focus for compliance with relevant health, Safety, environmental legislation.
  • Drive a positive safety culture through coaching, support and strong engagement with all teams.
  • Responsible for monitoring the sites EHS performance, identifying and taking proactive measures to improve performance shortfalls.
  • Conduct regular risk assessments and identify potential hazards and implement control measures to mitigate risks.
  • Liaise with Client and off-site legislative bodies and provide reports as required concerning key metrics.
  • Assist operational teams in reviewing sub-contractors risk assessments / method statements.
  • Conduct regular site inspections and report findings to senior management.
  • Investigate incidents and near-misses, assist with root cause analysis, and support implementation of corrective actions.
  • Coordinate and deliver EHS training and emergency response drills.
  • Lead and chair Health & Safety meetings.
  • Participate in EHS improvement initiatives.
  • Maintain accurate EHS records and prepare required reports.
  • Promote sustainability, waste reduction, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform routine site inspections and EHS audits.
  • Assist in developing emergency preparedness and response plans.
  • Advise teams on proper use and selection of PPE.
  • Facilitate communication on EHS topics.
  • Stay up to date on relevant EHS regulations.
  • Participate in cross-functional meetings.
  • Support initiatives for improving environmental performance.
  • Organize and deliver health and safety training sessions.
  • Ensure all personnel are adequately trained in emergency procedures.
  • Comply with ISO standards (ISO 9001, ISO 14001, ISO 45001).

Requirements

  • NEBOSH Diploma (or equivalent) and relevant professional membership (e.g. IOSH, IIRSM).
  • 5-7 years' experience as a Lead Health and Safety Advisor in the construction / electrical industry.
  • Strong knowledge of UK health and safety legislation and regulations.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Experience in emergency response planning and behavioural safety.
  • Skilled in data analysis, reporting, and stakeholder engagement.
  • A proactive, collaborative mindset and a genuine desire to make a difference.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Experience with ISO 45001 and ISO 14001 management systems.
