Your new company

An established, independent environmental consultancy made up of 4 Consultants is seeking an Assistant Ecologist to join its growing ecology team. This is an excellent opportunity for an early-career ecologist to gain hands-on experience across a broad range of projects while developing technical and consultancy skills within a supportive team environment.

Your new role

The main responsibilities of this role will include:

  • Assisting with ecological field surveys, including habitat and protected species surveys
  • Supporting the preparation of ecological reports, assessments and technical documentation
  • Collecting, managing and analysing field data
  • Supporting project delivery to agreed timescales
  • Working collaboratively with colleagues across multiple projects

What you'll need to succeed

  • Degree in Ecology, Environmental Science or a closely related subject
  • Some practical experience in ecology (consultancy, placement or voluntary experience advantageous)
  • Working knowledge of UK wildlife legislation and standard survey methodologies
  • Willingness to undertake fieldwork, including variable hours when required
  • Full UK driving licence
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Methodical approach with good attention to detail
