Macmillan Cancer Information & Support Service Assistant

30 hrs / 4 days per week (usually Tuesday to Friday)
Band 4 Pay scale £23,949 - £26,282 pro rata (Actual Part Time £19,159 - £21,025 per annum)
The Role
Would you like to work in a supportive team environment, where you can make a real difference to the lives of people affected by cancer through the support & information you share with them?
Working with the MCISS team and our volunteers across the three centres in Bolton, you will help to support the smooth delivery of this important service for people affected by cancer. You will meet with users of the service, assessing their needs, identifying the support required and providing the individuals with access to information and intervention. The role will need you to communicate sensitively and compassionately with patients and their families and carers and provide them with practical and emotional support.
What You Need
- Good listening skills
- Great organisation ability
- Experience of using computer systems
- Enjoy helping others
- Ideally experience working in a healthcare setting, supporting patients emotionally & practically
- Team player who enjoys creating effective working relationships through liaising regularly with oncology teams within the Hospital & services within the community
