Meet Gemma...
Gemma became a Care Assistant because she wanted to ‘give something back’ to the people she looks after. “The older and vulnerable adults that we look after have given so much to us and to our country and I always thought I wanted to give back to them,” she says. “I have always had a caring nature and found that working in the care profession is the perfect job for me – I just absolutely love it!” After a couple of years as a mobile carer, Gemma joined [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] earlier this year and has loved the opportunity to spend more quality time with the people in her care. “I really enjoy it at [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal]. There’s a great atmosphere, very welcoming and a great team spirit – everyone is working hard and doing their best to provide the best care for the residents. “To be able to get to know someone, spend time with them and help them to stay happy and independent is a real privilege,” she says. Her role as part of the care team, is to provide the hands-on care our residents need, from getting up and dressed in the morning, enjoying mealtimes, activities and outings, to going to bed again at night, and everything in between.
