SERVICE ENGINEER - WORKSHOP

Role Purpose
The Service Engineer will support the service team by carrying out a wide range of hands-on engineering and workshop activities. This role is ideal for an experienced mechanical engineer who enjoys practical fault-finding, repairs, testing, and keeping a well-organised workshop environment. The position plays a key role in delivering high-quality service support to customers and maintaining reliable workshop operations.
Key Responsibilities
Workshop Engineering Support
- Carry out strip-down, inspection, repair, build, and reassembly of hydraulic components and systems.
- Support the service team with workshop-based tasks, including preparation and completion of service work.
- Produce clear and accurate inspection reports and repair documentation.
Hire Equipment and Product Handling
- Clean, check, and prepare hire equipment, including purifiers, off-line filters, and particle counters.
- Carry out general repairs on returned customer hydraulic components or systems.
- Test calibrated products such as particle counters upon receipt, following documented procedures.
Testing and Quality
- Carry out functional testing of repaired or serviced equipment.
- Ensure work is completed to required quality and safety standards.
Workshop Organisation
- Maintain good standards of workshop organisation and housekeeping.
- Manage workshop stock, tools, and test equipment.
- Maintain existing work and test kits and assist with the preparation of new kits as required.
Person Specification
Essential
- Mechanical engineering background with hands-on workshop experience.
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to write clear and accurate reports.
- Good communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Reliable team player with a positive attitude.
Desirable
- Experience in hydraulics, lubrication, or fluid power systems.

- Previous experience working in a service or repair environment.

Hours of Work
The Service Engineer - Workshop will work 08:30 to 17:00 Monday to Thursday, and 08:30 to 16:00 Friday, 37.5 hours a week.
Location
This role will be based at our Charlbury site.
