Job Description
[Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] was founded in 1963 as an independent provider of hydraulic accessories and is today an internationally established group with over 10,000 employees, 50 branch offices and 500 trade and service partners world-wide. Reporting directly to the Machine Shop Manager, the successful candidate will work within a small team and be responsible for the manufacture of manifolds, filter components, and associated tooling.
Key Responsibilities
- Operating a variety of CNC machines to meet production schedules, conducting in-process inspection.
- Ensure machines are correctly loaded and that the appropriate CNC program is being executed.
- Monitor tool life and adjust/change tools as necessary to the required specification to maintain component quality and tool longevity.
- Remove swarf, deburr for safe handling and de-water parts after machining.
- Engrave parts as required by Production Order.
- Conduct swarf management and coolant maintenance on machine used as required.
- Ensure all work produced is to the minimum current Quality Assurance Standards and in line with [Employer hidden — sign up to reveal] works procedures.
- Keeping machines and workshop clean and in good maintenance.
- Manufacture components to production plan to enable delivery requirements to be met.
- Fill out production paperwork for all activities as required.
- Take an active role in job changeovers including fixture, tooling, gauging and program swaps. This shall include compliance with associated procedures on the same.
- Assisting in stock control of materials, tooling, and consumables.
- Assist in other Production duties as required.
- Observe and comply with all site Health and Safety requirements.
- Management may, from time to time, require you to carry out other tasks in addition to your normal duties, provided these tasks are both reasonable and within your capabilities.
Essential Requirements
- Previous experience operating CNC machines.
- Experience of reading and understanding Engineering drawings and tolerances.
- Proficiency in a range of measuring equipment and inspection techniques.
- Experience of working in a Production environment.
- Experience in producing high quality close tolerance machined components.
- Experience of working with quality procedures.
- Experience of basic milling and turning operations.
- Mechanically minded.
- Ability to follow instructions.
- Ability to work under pressure and to deadlines.
- Ability to work as part of a team.
- Computer literate.
Desirable Requirements
- Related Engineering qualification.
Hours of Work
The Machine Shop Operator will work 07:00 to 15:30 Monday to Thursday, and 07:00 to 12:30 Fridays, 37.5 hours a week.
Location
The role will be based at our UK headquarters in Witney, Oxfordshire.
