Post-Qualification Experience: Minimum 5 years

An established and ambitious regional firm is seeking a commercially astute Solicitor to join their busy Commercial Property team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated individual with at least 5 years’ post-qualification experience in commercial real-estate matters to step into a role offering both autonomy and teamwork, based either at the firm’s Sunderland or at their Newcastle office.

Key Responsibilities

  • Manage a varied portfolio of commercial property work including acquisitions, disposals, leases (landlord and tenant), investment transactions and refinancings.
  • Act as lead adviser on files from instruction through to completion, ensuring timely and commercially sensible outcomes.
  • Build and maintain constructive working relationships with clients, agents, lenders, surveyors and other advisors.
  • Provide pragmatic advice, identify key risks and commercial opportunities, and ensure accurate and clear documentation.
  • Support junior fee-earners and contribute to the development of the department’s processes and knowledge base.

What We Are Looking For

  • Solicitor (or equivalent) with at least 5 years PQE in commercial property work.
  • Strong drafting and negotiating skills, with fluency in both technical and commercial terminology.
  • Proven ability to handle matters independently whilst recognising when to escalate.
  • Client-focussed, proactive mindset with excellent communication skills.
  • Able to work to deadlines, manage multiple matters and deliver excellent service.
  • Ideally, some experience of working with corporate or investor clients, and a flair for contributing to business development.

Why Join the Firm?

The firm prides itself on being a supportive, professional and forward-looking organisation, with a “northern heart, national reach” ethos. Their career development framework emphasises consistent training and development from day one.

Why This Role?

  • Join a respected regional firm with strong growth ambitions and a broad, well-balanced commercial property offering.
  • Significant exposure to meaningful work with autonomy and the chance to make a visible impact.
  • Flexibility of location (Sunderland or Gosforth) to suit your circumstances.
  • A culture that supports professional development, and a team environment where your contribution will be valued.
